Levomefolate calcium is the calcium salt of l-5-methyltetrahydrofolate, which belongs to the folate family of vitamins (Vitamin B9, Folic Acid), and which is a coenzyme form of folic acid. l-5-methyltetrahydrofolate calcium (5-mthf), the naturally occurring salt-forming methyl derivative form of folate, and 5-mthf, also known as levomethylfolate, are the most biologically active and functional forms of folic acid, and are more readily absorbed than regular folic acid.
