Indigo Carmine Powder Usage and Synthesis.

Acid Blue 74 is a food coloring used for coloring food and beverages. Its chemical formula is C16H8N2Na2O8S2, with large relative molecular mass. Acid blue 74 is a dark blue powder, with copper-like luster, sensitive to light and oxidants. 1g of acid blue 74 is soluble in 100ml of water at 25℃, slightly soluble in ethanol, almost insoluble in other organic solvents. The maximum absorption wavelength of this pigment is 608nm, and the LD50 (rat, intravenous) is 93mG/kg.

Uses of Indigo Carmine.

As a food coloring agent, China's regulations can be used in red and green silk, the maximum amount of 0.20g/kg; in fruit juice (flavor) drinks, carbonated beverages, prepared wine, candy, pastries on the colorful, dyed cherries canned (Department of decorative use), plums, the maximum amount of 0.10g/kg; in the dipping of small vegetables in the maximum amount of 0.01g/kg.

Food blue pigment. Generally used for color mixing. Because of its instability, low fastness, weak dyeing, the most suitable for deep color tone. It can be adjusted to chocolate color, green, azuki bean color, tea color, coffee color. Used in cakes, cold drinks and refreshing drinks, dosage 5-100mg/kg.

By bis-dimethylaminodiphenylmethanol and 2-hydroxynaphthalene-3,6-disulfonic acid, in the presence of concentrated sulfuric acid, the loss of a molecule of water condensation colorless parent, in a weak acid solution with manganese dioxide oxidation into triarylmethane pigment.

Diphenylmethanol is obtained by oxidizing tetraalkyldiaminodiphenylmethane with manganese dioxide and sulfuric acid. It can be condensed directly using its centrifugally separated filter cake. Manganese dioxide is freshly prepared from manganese sulfate and potassium permanganate in sodium carbonate solution.
