Cyanocobalamin powder Usage and Synthesis.

1. Increase the utilization of folic acid, synthesize methionine (synthesized from homocysteine) and choline together with folic acid, synthesize cyanocobalamin Schengen precursors such as methylcobalamin and coenzyme B12 in the production of purines and pyrimidines, and participate in the methylation process of many important compounds.

Vitamin B12 deficiency reduces the activity of transferring methyl groups from methyltetrahydrofolate, turning folic acid into an unavailable form and leading to folate deficiency.

2. Maintaining the metabolism and function of nerve myelin. Vitamin B12 deficiency can cause nerve disorders, spinal cord degeneration, and can cause severe psychiatric symptoms. Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to peripheral neuritis. The early manifestations of vitamin B12 deficiency in children are abnormal mood, dull expression, slow reaction, and finally lead to anemia.

3. Promote the development and maturation of red blood cells. Converts methylmalonyl coenzyme A into succinyl coenzyme A, which participates in the tricarboxylic acid cycle, in which succinyl coenzyme A is related to the synthesis of hemoglobin.

4. Vitamin B12 is also involved in the synthesis of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), the metabolism of fats, carbohydrates and proteins, and increases the synthesis of nucleic acids and proteins.

Cyanocobalamin-powder

Uses of Cyanocobalamin powder.

The prototypes of the family of naturally occurring cobalt-ligand compounds are called cobaltoid analogs. Analogs of vitamin B12 differ only in the beta-ligand of cobalt and are called cobalamins. It is synthesized almost exclusively by bacteria. Dietary sources include fish, meat, liver, and dairy products; plants have little or no cobalamin.

The body converts them into biologically active forms, methylcobalamin and cobalamin, which act as enzyme cofactors. Severe deficiency may result in megaloblastic anemia and/or neurological dysfunction.

Main Clinical Applications

Cyanocobalamin is primarily used to treat severe vitamin B12 deficiency caused by specific diseases leading to malabsorption.

It is mainly suitable for the following conditions: pernicious anemia (a disease caused by autoimmune destruction of gastric parietal cells, resulting in intrinsic factor deficiency and impaired B12 absorption); gastrointestinal diseases or surgeries (such as after gastrectomy or terminal ileum resection); certain intestinal parasitic infections (such as fish tapeworm) or bacterial overgrowth; pancreatic insufficiency or certain intestinal cancers.

For patients with pernicious anemia, cyanocobalamin injections are a lifelong treatment regimen because oral administration is unreliable for these patients. Once diagnosed, patients typically require monthly intramuscular injections to maintain normal blood drug levels and bodily functions.

In addition, cyanocobalamin injections are also used in vitamin B12 absorption tests to help diagnose the specific cause of the malabsorption.

Cyanocobalamin

Regarding special populations:

Pregnant and lactating women: Vitamin B12 is essential for fetal and infant growth and development. Studies suggest that when used under a doctor's guidance, the risk to the infant is extremely low. Pregnant and lactating women should ensure they are taking the recommended dose (usually 4 micrograms daily).

Children and the elderly: Children's dosage should be adjusted according to age. There are no specific contraindications for use in the elderly, but closer monitoring may be required due to other medical conditions or medications

Persons with hepatic or renal impairment: The liver is the main storage organ for B12. For patients with renal impairment, especially those receiving long-term injectable therapy, attention should be paid to the potential presence of aluminum (as an excipient) in the product, which may accumulate in the body and produce toxicity.

Product method of Bulk Cyanocobalamin powder.

Vitamin B12 can be synthesized in large quantities by actinomycetes such as Streptomyces griseus, and vitamin B12 is produced industrially from the cultures of these bacteria. The total synthesis of vitamin B12 was accomplished by R. B. Woodward in 1973, which was a remarkable work in organic synthesis.
