Uses and Function of trimethylglycine.

The addition of betaine in feed has the role of protecting vitamins in feed, feed can withstand high temperature, long storage period, can greatly improve the utilization rate of feed, but also can reduce costs.

Chicken feed add 0.05% of betaine, can replace 0.1% of methionine; bait add betaine to fish and shrimp have enticing effect, can be used in a large number of aquatic products pang chemical agent; pig feed add betaine, pigs love to eat, and the lean meat rate increased. 1kg betaine is equivalent to 3.5kg of methionine.

1kg betaine is equivalent to 3.5kg methionine. 1.2 times of choline chloride and 3.8 times of methionine, betaine can provide methyl, and the feeding effect is very significant.

Feed grade anhydrous betaine can be used as feed additives, is a natural and efficient methyl donor, can partially replace methionine and choline chloride, reduce feed costs, reduce backfat of pigs, improve lean meat rate and carcass quality.

Product Methods of  Bulk trimethylglycine Powder.

(1) Extraction method. The mother liquor of beet sugar production contains 12%-15% betaine, which can be directly recovered. Heat 300 parts of mother liquor to 50℃, add 80 parts of calcium chloride, stir for a certain period of time and then filter while hot. The filtrate is acidified with hydrochloric acid and then cooled to 20-30℃ for crystallization, and about 30 parts of betaine are obtained after separation and drying.

(2) Synthesis method. Obtained by quaternization of chloroacetic acid with trimethylamine, 195 parts of 48.6% aqueous chloroacetic acid solution is neutralized into sodium chloroacetate solution with 16% sodium hydroxide solution, then mixed with 360 parts of 16.4% trimethylamine solution, aired at 50℃ for 1h, and then aired at 80℃ for another 1h.

The reactants were diluted and adsorbed by ionic resin (Dowex-50-8) and eluted with ammonia to obtain betaine solution. The product was then concentrated and crystallized under vacuum.
