The mechanism of antibacterial action of cefixime is similar to that of other third-generation cephalosporins in that it inhibits cell wall synthesis in dividing bacterial cells by binding to one or more penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs).
The PBPs are located on the plasma membrane of bacterial cells and may be catalysing enzymes at the end of bacterial cell wall synthesis. The action of the product results in the formation of a defective cell wall that is unstable to osmotic pressure in bacteria, thus acting as an antibacterial agent.
Different strains of bacteria have their own unique PBPs.The different affinities of cefixime for different PBPs are the main factors affecting its antibacterial spectrum activity.
Uses and functions of Cefixime Micronized.
Cephalosporin antimicrobial
The third generation oral cephalosporins are broad-spectrum antibiotics with strong antibacterial effects against Gram-positive bacteria such as Streptococcus spp. and other Gram-negative bacteria such as Gonococcus and H. influenzae, as well as E. coli, Pneumocystis, and Aspergillus chimera resistant to cefacroxil, cephalosporin, cephalosporin hydroxybenzyl, etc., and stabilised by β-lactamases produced by a wide range of bacteria.
Long-lasting and highly effective, it can be administered once a day. Clinically used for respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, biliary tract infections caused by sensitive bacteria, etc.
Drug interactions of Cefixime Micronized.
1, and aminoglycoside antibiotics have synergistic antibacterial effect on some sensitive strains.
2, It has been reported that aspirin may increase the blood concentration of cefixime.
3, with aminoglycosides or other cephalosporins will increase nephrotoxicity.
4, with furosemide and other strong diuretics may enhance nephrotoxicity.
5, and chloramphenicol may have mutual antagonism.
6, Probenecid can prolong the excretion of cefixime and elevate the blood concentration.
Note of Bulk Cefixime Micronized.
1. Cross-allergy: patients who are allergic to one cephalosporin or cephalosporin (cephamycin) may be allergic to other cephalosporins or cephalosporins. People who are allergic to penicillins, penicillin derivatives or penicillamine may also be allergic to cephalosporins or cephamycin.
2. Contraindications: Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to this product and other cephalosporins.
3. Caution: (1) Use with caution in patients allergic to penicillin antibiotics.
(2)Use with caution in pregnant women, lactating women, premature infants and newborns.
(3) Use with caution in severe hepatic and renal dysfunction.
(4)Use with caution in highly allergic body.
(5) Use with caution in elderly and infirm patients.
4. Effects on diagnosis:
(1)False positives may occur in urinary glucose determination by copper sulfate method.
(2) Direct anti-human globulin test (Coomb's test) was positive.
(3) Elevated alkaline phosphatase, serum alanine aminotransferase, serum menthyl aminotransferase, serum creatinine and blood urea nitrogen may occur in a small number of patients after use of the drug.
5. Monitoring items when use is necessary:
(1) Liver and renal function and blood and urine routine should be checked regularly when long-term use.
(2) Patients with hepatic and renal impairment should be monitored for blood concentration when using Cefixime.
