It is obtained by the reaction of calcium carbonate with acetic acid. The method of preparing anhydrous calcium acetate is to add refined powdered calcium carbonate to water, stir into a suspension, and add a small amount of glacial acetic acid in batches. After the reaction, the filtrate is concentrated in a water bath and a white solid, anhydrous calcium acetate, is precipitated from the viscous filtrate.
