Product details
Mupirocin is mainly used for the prevention and treatment of skin bacterial infections caused by gram-positive coccus, such as impetigo, furuncle, folliculitis and other primary skin infections, and eczema co-infection, ulcer co-infection, trauma co-infection and other secondary skin infections. The main mechanism of mupirocin's antibacterial action is to inhibit protein synthesis in bacteria.

Uses of Mupirocin.
Topical antibiotics. By reversibly binding to isoleucine transfer RNA synthetase, isoleucine is prevented from entering the human body, thus halting the synthesis of all proteins containing isoleucine in the cell. For acute primary bacterial skin infections, such as folliculitis and impetigo. It is generally used for skin disease inflammation, eczema, etc., to make Mupirocin ointment on the market.
FAQ.
Q: Is mupirocin better than oral antibiotics?
A: For localized skin infections (impetigo, small wounds), yes! Fewer side effects than pills.
Q: Can mupirocin treat fungal infections?
A: ❌ No—it’s antibacterial only (use clotrimazole for fungus).
Q: How quickly does it work?
A: Improves symptoms in 2-3 days; finish full course (5-10 days) to prevent resistance.
Q: Can I use expired mupirocin?
A: ❌ No—effectiveness declines after expiration.
Q: Is mupirocin safe for babies?
A: ✅ Yes, for ages 2+ (consult pediatrician first).
Pharmacological action
mupirocin 2 ointment is a topical antibiotic, a substance produced by the culture fluid of Pseudomonas fluorescens, namely Pseudomonas A. Its antibacterial effect is mainly through reversible binding to isoleucine transfer RNA synthetase, preventing isoleucine from penetrating, and stopping the synthesis of isoleucine-containing proteins in cells to kill or inhibit bacteria.
This drug shows an antibacterial effect at very low concentrations and a bactericidal effect at high concentrations. This drug is highly sensitive to various Gram-positive cocci related to skin infections, especially Staphylococci and Streptococci, and is also effective against drug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus; it has a certain antibacterial effect on certain Gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae and Neisseria gonorrhoeae; it is not sensitive to most anaerobic bacteria and normal skin flora. The incidence of in vitro drug-resistant variants is very low.
Product Methods of Mupirocin.
A class of substances produced by Pseudomonas fluorescens, including pseudomonas acid A, B, C, D, of which mupirocin is the main metabolite of pseudomonas acid A.
