Shikimic acid of Usage and Synthesis.

Shikimic acid is a key ingredient in Roche's Tamiflu production. The shikimic acid currently used by Roche is extracted from star anise processing. The process of synthesis of shikimic acid from petrochemical raw materials is complicated, and there is no value of production and application except scientific research at present. Shikimic acid can be synthesized from quinic acid, another natural product, in a few steps.
