Iodixanol, chemical name 5,5'‑((2‑ hydroxyl ‑1,3‑ propane) bis (acetylimide) bis (N,N ‑2, 3‑ hydroxy propyl) bis (N,N ‑2, 3‑ hydroxy propyl)‑2,4,6‑ triiodol ‑1,3‑ phenylphthalamide, developed by Nycomed, Norway, It is a new type of non-ionic X-ray contrast agent (290mosmol/kg osmotic pressure) and is the only contrast agent that is isotonic with plasma when applied intravascular.
Uses of Iodixanol.
X-ray contrast medium. Angiocardiography, cerebrovascular angiography (routine with i.a. DSA), peripheral arteriography (routine with i.a. DSA), abdominal angiography (i.a. DSA), urography, venography, and CT-enhanced examination are performed in adults.
Pharmacological action of Iodixanol.
Product method of Bulk Iodixanol Powder.
The compound (I) is condensed with 1, 3-dichloro-2-propanol to obtain ioxanol.
