Anatase Titanium Dioxide Usage and Function.

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is the most widely used white pigment in industry, with applications in architectural, industrial and automotive coatings; plastics for furniture, electrical appliances, plastic belts and boxes; paper for high-grade magazines, brochures and films; and speciality products such as inks, rubbers, leathers and elastomers.

Uses of Anatase Titanium Dioxide.

Preparation of Anatase Titanium Dioxide.

Product Method of Bulk Anatase Titanium Dioxide Powder.

It is produced from high-grade titanium ore by chlorination reaction to generate TiCl2, refined to high-purity TiCl2, and then oxidised and decomposed. The raw ore is decomposed with sulphuric acid, and the resulting liquid is heated and decomposed into metatitanic acid, which is then roasted. Concentrated sulphuric acid is added to ilmenite to dissolve it, and extracted with water. The filtrate is added with iron filings, phosphate, etc. and boiled to form TiO(OH)2. The precipitate is washed well and then roasted and crushed. It is usually coated with a small amount of bauxite and/or silica to improve the product properties.
