Uses and functions of Monolaurin.
Glyceryl laurate, also known as glycerolmonolaurate (GML), is an excellent food emulsifier and preservative, which was first screened out by Kabara et al. as a new type of safe and efficient antimicrobial agent, and was formally approved by the U.S. FDA in 1977 as a GRAS-type food additives.
Glyceryl laurate is both an excellent emulsifier and a safe, efficient and broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent, and it is not subject to pH limitations, and still has good antimicrobial effect under neutral or slightly alkaline conditions, which is especially suitable for application in the special oil industry.
Preparation method of Monolaurin.
(1) Using lower alcohol Na or lower alcohol potassium as catalyst, lower alcohol ester of lauric acid and glycerol are mixed according to the molar ratio of 3:1, and the crude product of glycerol ester of lauric acid is obtained by reacting under vacuum for 20-40h under the condition of 150-170℃;
(2) Use 40-50% of the weight of fat glycerol ester of lauric acid crude product, the mass fraction of 4%-10% of citric acid aqueous solution to wash the fatty acid glycerol ester crude product once, and then add the weight of glycerol ester of lauric acid crude product of 30%-50% of the hot water of 80-100 ° C, stirring, static stratification, separation of the upper layer of oil, and then 80-100 ° C of hot water, water wash 3 times, heating and depressurization to remove water;
(3) molecular distillation of the product of said step (2) at a temperature of 130-220°C and a vacuum degree of 0.1-150pa to obtain the product of glyceryl laurate.
