Titanium dioxide Powder Usage and Synthesis.

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is the most widely used white pigment in industry, with applications in architectural, industrial and automotive coatings; plastics for furniture, electrical appliances, plastic belts and boxes; paper for high-grade magazines, brochures and films; as well as specialty products such as inks, rubbers, leathers and elastomers.

Uses and Function of Titanium dioxide.

Product Methods of  Bulk Titanium dioxide Powder.

It is produced from high-grade titanium ore by chlorination reaction to generate TiCl2, refined into high-purity TiCl2, and then oxidized and decomposed. The raw ore is decomposed with sulfuric acid, and the resulting liquid is heated and decomposed into metatitanic acid, which is then roasted.

Concentrated sulfuric acid is added to ilmenite to dissolve it and extracted with water. The filtrate is added with iron filings, phosphate, etc. and boiled to produce TiO(OH)2.

This precipitate is washed well and then roasted and pulverized.

It is usually coated with a small amount of bauxite and/or silica to improve the product properties.
