Sodium molybdate is an important molybdenum compound with a wide range of applications. It can be used to prepare molybdenum salts, dyes, pigments, catalysts, corrosion inhibitors and so on.

Uses of Sodium Molybdate.
Molybdate has low toxicity and low level of environmental pollution, which is a new type of water treatment agent with more applications at present.
In order to get a better retardation effect, molybdate is often compounded with polyphosphate, gluconate, zinc salt, benzotriazole, which not only reduces the amount of molybdate used, but also improves the corrosion inhibition effect, the amount of molybdate after compounding is reduced from 200 to 500mg/L to 4 to 6mg/L.
Molybdate film-forming process, there must be dissolved oxygen present, without calcium ions (or other divalent metal ions). Molybdate is thermally stable and can be used in circulating water systems with high heat flow density and localized overheating.
Sodium molybdate can be used in the manufacture of alkaloids, inks, fertilizers, precipitants for molybdenum red pigments and sunlight-resistant pigments, catalysts, molybdenum salts, as well as in the manufacture of flame retardants and metal inhibitors for non-polluting chilled water systems, and as a galvanizing, abrasive and chemical reagent.

Sodium molybdate is the molybdate of sodium. White rhombic crystal. Slightly soluble in water, insoluble in acetone. Although molybdenum has a variety of compounds from zero-valent to hexavalent, but only hexavalent compound molybdate is the most stable. The most important molybdenum ore for the manufacture of molybdate raw materials is molybdenite (the main component is MoS2).
Product Method of Bulk Sodium Molybdate Powder.
In the laboratory it can be obtained by melting a mixture of molybdenum trioxide and sodium carbonate. Industrially, the raw material molybdenite (the main component MoS2) is oxidized and roasted to make crude molybdenum oxide, which is washed with nitric acid to remove impurities, and then dissolved in aqueous sodium hydroxide solution, and heated and concentrated to obtain Na2MoO4-2H2O, sodium molybdate dihydrate. it is anhydrous when heated to 100℃.
