Turkesterone Usage and Synthesis.

Turkestanone is a potent ecdysteroid, used as an ecdysteroid receptor (EcR) agonist in certain insect systems.

Its effects are mainly in increasing muscle fibre synthesis, lowering body fat, lowering blood glucose and cholesterol, positively regulating immunity and protecting the nervous system, with anti-inflammatory, anti-tumour and anti-stress, antibacterial and other biological activities.

Uses of Turkesterone.

Extracted with ethyl acetate, n-butanol; ethyl acetate extract, Al2O3 (neutral) column chromatography, chloroform-methanol gradient elution, chloroform-methanol (4:1) elution part of the ethyl acetate-methanol recrystallisation, to obtain the compound 3 (200mg); 3:1 elution part of the preparative thin-layer chromatography (stationary phase: silica gel GF254; mobile phase: chloroform-methanol = 5:1) to obtain the compound 1 (10mg); eluted with methanol part of the methanol by preparative thin-layer chromatography (fixed phase: silica gel GF254; mobile phase: chloroform-methanol = 5:1) to obtain Compound 1 (10mg); the methanol eluted portion was separated by preparative high performance liquid chromatography (ODS, methanol/water=31:69, detection at 242nm) to obtain Turkestanone (5mg).
