Drug Description: Calcium pantothenate is absorbed orally through the gastrointestinal tract, widely distributed, and not metabolized in the body. 70% is excreted unchanged in the urine, and 30% in the feces.
Pharmacological Action: Calcium pantothenate is a B vitamin and a component of coenzyme A, essential for the normal functioning of carbohydrates, proteins, fats, and epithelial cells.
Indications: Primarily used clinically for the prevention and treatment of calcium pantothenate deficiency (such as malabsorption syndrome, tropical stomatitis, celiac disease, regional enteritis, or when using calcium pantothenate antagonists), as an adjunct treatment for B vitamin deficiencies, and as an adjunct treatment for some other diseases (such as streptomycin poisoning, postoperative intestinal obstruction, rheumatoid arthritis, etc.). It is also used for vitamin B deficiency, peripheral neuritis, and postoperative intestinal colic.
Dosage and Administration: Oral: 10–20 mg each time, 3 times a day. For postoperative intestinal colic: 50 mg intramuscularly each time, 3 times a day.
