Psoralens are pharmacologically active compounds whose main use is in the treatment of skin conditions such as vitiligo, pemphigus and psoriasis.

Psoralen is able to increase the action of melanin in the skin, thus helping to improve the symptoms of vitiligo. In addition, psoralen has a leukaemia-killing effect on leukaemia cells and has a low effect on haematopoietic stem cells.
