Product details
Levonorgestrel is a widely used oral contraceptive. It inhibits ovulation and prevents a pregnant egg from settling, while increasing the concentration of cervical mucus and preventing sperm from advancing. Taking levonorgestrel may cause mild vomiting, nausea, and irregularity in a woman's next menstrual cycle.
Uses and functions of Levonorgestrel.
Progesterone drugs for irregular menstruation, functional uterine bleeding, endometrial displacement, etc.
It is mainly used as family visit contraceptive and emergency contraceptive, combined with oestrogen, short-acting and long-acting oral contraceptives, with the effect of inhibiting ovulation, and is the most widely used at home and abroad. It can also be used to treat irregular menstruation, functional uterine bleeding and endometriosis.
Pharmacological effects of Levonorgestrel.
Levonorgestrel (LNG) is a fully synthetic, potent progestin, the optically active form of racemic norethindrone, which is one times more active than norethindrone and about 100 times more active than norethindrone.
For this reason, the dosage can be halved compared to norethindrone, and adverse effects are reduced.
Levonorgestrel mainly acts on the hypothalamus and pituitary gland, so that the peak of FSH and LH levels in the middle of menstruation is significantly reduced or disappeared, and the ovary does not ovulate, and it has obvious anti-estrogenic activity, which is about 10 times stronger than that of kynurenine, and it has almost no estrogenic activity.
Can make the cervical mucus thickening impede sperm penetration.
The endometrial transformation of levonorgestrel shows very strong progesterone activity, can make the endometrium thin, the endometrial epithelial cells were low columnar, secretion function is not good, is not conducive to pregnant egg implantation.
LNG also has some androgenic activity and anabolic effect, oral or subcutaneous injection can inhibit ovulation.
Drug interactions of Bulk Levonorgestrel Powder.
1. The metabolism of progesterone may be increased by concomitant use of substances known to induce drug-metabolising enzymes, particularly the cytochrome P450 enzyme system, such as anticonvulsants (e.g., phenobarbital, phenytoin, carbamazepine) and anti-infectives (e.g., rifampicin, rifabutin, nevirapine, efavirenz).
2. The effect of these drugs on the contraceptive effectiveness of the levonorgestrel IUD system is unclear, but because their mechanism of action is localised, they are not thought to have a large effect.
