Pharmacological Effect of Fluoxetine Hydrochloride.

Fluoxetine blocks 5-HT2A receptors and restores DA and NE levels through inhibition of 5-HT2A receptors. At the same time, fluoxetine also relieves the inhibitory effect of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) neurons on NE and DA release via 5-HT2C receptors.

In addition to its ability to increase the 5-HT concentration in the synaptic gap, it is based on fluoxetine's action on 5-HT2A and 5-HT2C that directly and indirectly restores the levels of DA and NE, with NE and DA derepression properties (NDDI).
