Kanamycin sulfate Powder Usage and Synthesis.

Kanamycin sulfate mainly binds to the 30S subunit of bacterial ribosome and inhibits bacterial protein synthesis. Resistant strains have increased significantly in recent years due to the production of aminoglycoside passivation enzymes by some bacteria, which cause them to lose antibacterial activity. Kanamycin has complete cross-resistance with streptomycin and neomycin, and partial cross-resistance with other aminoglycosides.

Uses and functions of Kanamycin sulfate.

Kanamycin sulfate is a broad spectrum aminoglycoside antibiotic, which mainly binds to the 30S subunit of bacterial ribosomes, inhibits bacterial protein synthesis, and is mainly used to treat many different types of infections caused by bacteria.The antibacterial spectrum of this product is similar to that of neomycin, mainly against serious infections caused by gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Proteus, Pneumobacter, Enterobacter aerogenes and Shigella, etc. It also has a good antibacterial effect on drug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.Clinically, it is mainly used for lung infection, urinary tract infection, biliary tract infection septicemia and abdominal infection caused by sensitive bacteria, and the latter two are often combined with other antibacterial drugs. It can also be used for staphylococcus aureus infections that are resistant to other antibiotics and sensitive to kanamycin sulfate. In the treatment of tuberculosis, kanamycin sulfate can be used as a second-line drug.

Drug interaction of Kanamycin sulfate.

Aminoglycosides can cause mutual inactivation when mixed with beta lactams (cephalosporins and penicillins). This product must be divided into vials and titrated when combined with the above antibiotics.

Adverse Reaction of  Bulk Kanamycin sulfate Powder.

1. This product is toxic, the main toxicity is to the eighth cranial nerve toxicity.

2. Nephrotoxicity, often can cause mild proteinuria, tubular urine and a small number of red blood cells, white blood cells in the urine, occasionally can cause blood urea nitrogen increase.

3. Neurotoxicity is manifested by muscle nerve block, which can cause respiratory paralysis, sensory numbness, visual abnormalities.

4. allergic reaction, may have maculopapular rash, drug fever, skin itching, eosinophilia and so on.

5. Avoid combining with alkaline drugs, as it can increase toxicity. With alkaline urine drugs can enhance the antibacterial activity of the product in the urinary system, but the toxicity is also increased, so the dose must be reduced accordingly.

6. The general course of treatment should not exceed 2 weeks, and should be used with caution in patients with reduced renal function. For elderly patients should reduce the dose
